Georgians take pickup trucks seriously. This is true whether we need them for our farms, use them in our daily work, or just count on them to take us on adventures. The 2017 Ram 1500 is ready for any challenge, even the ones posed by the 2017 Ford F150. From Kelley Blue Book to Edmunds, critics seem to agree that Ram can stand up to the competition, whether it's hauling expertise, durability, or cabin quality.

Putting Quality First

Ram trucks are known for putting quality first. The materials in its cabins, whether the least or most expensive, are not just durable truck fare. These high value appointments make sure that the seats and other surfaces will look better, feel better, and last longer. While Ford may catch up as you rise through the trim levels, Ram doesn't require a big investment for you to get your money's worth. These class-leading cabins are made more desirable by their class-leading ride quality. Compared to Ford, you'll notice that a Ram cabin is quieter on the road. There's more insulation and more dedication to sound engineering. Furthermore, there are fewer bumps due to Ram's exclusive five-link rear suspension.

Powertrain

Of course, a handsome cabin doesn't make the truck. It's how tough it is that counts. Ram continues to utilize high strength steel for the majority of its truck build. Ford has turned to an aluminum alloy. Although Ford asserts that its truck is more aerodynamic as a result, the Ram 1500 actually has best-in-class lowest coefficient of drag. Ram also offers automatic grille shutters to take in or keep out air, depending on speed. When it comes to fuel economy, Ram leads the way with its exclusive EcoDiesel. The truck is rated 28 mpg highway, making it the leader in the light duty class. Comparing the Ford EcoBoost with the same horsepower as the EcoDiesel, you'll see that the truck's high torque rate gives it a major advantage. Ford has introduced a ten-speed automatic transmission for one of its engines, but otherwise there are six-speed automatics. Ram uses an eight-speed automatic transmission across the board. Whether it's hauling or towing, Ram trucks are built for hard work.

Class-Exclusive Air Suspension

Only Ram offers a four-corner leveling air suspension. This smart device improves aerodynamics in several ways. A lowered, empty bed is better able to cheat the wind. A balanced, heavy bed reduces drag. Maximizing ground clearance, a driver can raise the bed. For loading payload, the driver can lower the bed. Then there are the daily advantages of better cushioning for corners, uneven pavement, and rough worksites. Off-roaders will also appreciate this system when crawling over a rough trail.
