The second choice is a 3.2-liter V-6 that gives you 271 horsepower and 239 lb.-ft. of torque. They both have front wheel drive or you can choose to upgrade to all-wheel drive. If you upgrade, you will then have the ability to tow about 4.500 pounds and you can select from a few different driving system options if you upgrade to the all-wheel drive.
In comparison, the 2016 Ford Escape has three engine choices. The first choice is a base level with a 2.5-liter with 4 cylinders that gives you 168 horsepower and 170 lb.-ft. of torque. The second choice is a 1.6-liter 4 cylinder that is turbocharged and gives you 178 horsepower and 184 lb.-ft. of torque. The third choice is a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4 cylinder that gives you 240 horsepower and 270 lb.-ft. of torque. The third choice also gives you the ability to tow 3,500 pounds. All of these engine choices provide less horsepower and torque than what you get with a Jeep Cherokee.
Design and Features
The Jeep Cherokee has a high level option called the Trailhawk. This option is trail rated and is the most competent SUV within its division. The Jeep Active Drive transports the Cherokee in and out of four-wheel drive on its own when conditions call for it. There is also a steering assist technology during varying conditions. The rear axle can disconnect from the vehicle when the 4x4 is not needed to increase the vehicles fuel efficiency.
The Ford Escape has a bigger focus on its interior which is comfortable and has easy to work buttons and controls. It also includes Ford's new Sync 3 infotainment system plus a moon roof and a premier audio system by Sony.
